I wish someone would have told me....

-College is diverse, but the workforce is not
-Do multiple internships to figure out what you do/don't want to do
-figure out what industry you actually want to work in
-As a graduate student, you'll make around 17-25,000 dollars a year
-sciences are good because there are a lot of ways to get funding
-GO FOR ADVANCED DEGREES! DON'T WORRY -ABOUT LOANS, THE PAYOFF (EDUCATION) IS FREEDOM!
-Learn how to negotiate/communicate with different people and in different ways
-learn how to get people to respect you! Be smart; don't take BS
-BE AN EXPERT ABOUT YOUR FIELD- people will try to test you
-The golden rule is SO true
-It is okay to COMMAND respect
-Learn how to keep your cool
-Go to work to do your job, not to make friends (< this can cause problems)
-LEARN FROM EVERY EXPERIENCE
-Find a mentor (don't limit yourself to professionals of the same nationality as you)
-When people say “keep in contact with me”, make sure you keep that connection
-Be proactive, when you graduate you won't have the time that you have now
-learn the BUZZ words in your field and how they work. Learn corporate jargon too
-DON'T MAKE ALL YOUR COLLEAGUES YOUR MENTORS
-You should have mentors in every part of your life!!!
